1950 Beechcraft Bonanza 35 Check List

STARTING THE ENGINE-It is desirable to have the airplane header into the wind; however, this is mandatory only when the wind velocity is high or gusty.

1. Set parking brake handle and pump up pressure brake pedal.

2. Turn ignition switch to “BATT”

3. Check fuel quantity in both tanks

4. Turn fuel selector valve to left tank, If left tank is less than half full, Turn valve to fullest tank.

5. Check to see wing flaps are up.

6. Open cowl flaps (CTRL/shift/V)

7. Set mixture control to full-rich position.

8. Place propeller in “HI” rpm position ( Run at 2300rpm for 1 minute only.).

9. Open throttle approximately ¼” from closed.

10. Turn ignition switch to “BOTH”.

11. Pump up 9 to 10 pounds of fuel pressure.

12. Press starter button.

13. Check to see that oil-pressure gauge registers at least 10 ponds oil pressure within thirty seconds.

PRE-TAKE OFF

1. Check flight controls for free and smooth movement throughout their full range.

2. Check to see wing flaps up.

3. Set the elevator tab control to zero.

4. Set throttle to 1600 rpm and check to see the drop does not exceed 75 rpm on either magneto.

5. Check engine for smooth operation at full throttle.

6. Check to see charging rate of generator is between 2 and 20 amps,

7. Check to see fuel pressure in between 9 and 14 pounds.

8. Mixture control; should be full rich.

9. The carburetor heat should be cold except when operating in very low temperatures.

10. Oil temperature should be between 120 deg and 180 deg F.

11. Check to see oil pressure is between 40 and 80 pounds.

12. The head temperature should not exceed 525 deg F.

TAKE OFF

1. Release brake.

2. Throttle - Full Open, Do not exceed 2300 rpm and 29.6 inches Hg. Manifold pressure. Open throttle smoothly as airplane accelerates.

3. When a speed of approximately 55 mph is attained, raise the nose wheel off the ground. The airplane will then fly off at approximately 65 mph.

4. When a stable clime at 75 to 85 mph is attained, raise the landing gear.

CLIMB

1. Climb at full throttle with the propeller in the “HI” rpm position ( Do not exceed 2300 rpm).

2. Adjust cowling flaps to maintain head temperature between 420 deg and 460 deg F. (close with CTRL/shift/C)

3. Adjust elevator tab to relieve elevator control forces during climb.

CRUISE

1. Set the desired rpm and manifold pressure settings ( Do not exceed 2050rpm at 29.6 HD inches.)

2. Set cowling flaps to maintain head temperature ranges.

LANDING

1. Check to see that mixture control is full rich.

2. Set fuel-tank selector valve to fullest tank.

3. Set propeller to “HI” rpm position.

4. Leave carburetor heat cold ( unless icing conductions are indicated).

5. Lower landing gear at 125 mph. Check to see that , (1) the green landing-gear position light is “ON”, (2) the mechanical landing gear position indicator points “DOWN”, and (3) the landing-gear warning horn does not sound when the throttle is closed.

6. Open cowling flaps (CTRL/shift/V).

7. When on the approach leg, lower wing flaps at not over 100 mph.

8. After landing and before taxiing, raise the flaps.
